ICE  BREAKER RUN - OPAWA RIVER  – (no icebergs encountered on route).

Our first run of the 2018/19 boating season took place on 22 September, a fine calm morning with high cloud.
A good muster with 7 boats and 18 crew. It was decided instead of going up river to lunch at Blenheim, as usual, to go down river and picnic on the river bank at Will Parsons property which was not one of our better decisions, the wind freshened as we progressed and was blowing straight upriver at our proposed lunch spot, not pleasant.
Plan B : - head back up river and find a more sheltered spot with enough space for boats and people.
To achieve this we went up river, past the launching ramp to  private jetty and ramp we had checked out earlier in the week as a back up plan in case the public ramp was still closed for maintenance.
It was a pleasure to get some shelter from the wind, and stretch the legs and stiff bodies after sitting for a couple of hours.  Having refueled the bodies and taken a walk it was back downstream to the ramp to pull the boats out.
At this point the wind eased, the sun came out and it turned into a perfect day for boating
