The first run of the New Year was on the Wairau River with seven boats, 13 people and once again one of the many club mascots in the form of a dog.  After launching at the Wairau Rowing Club we went up the river as far as we could, slightly upstream of Spring Creek, before running out of water depth, before turning back to find a lovely lunch spot on the bank.

As  usual, lunch was a sociable occasion with much admiration of Nikau, a new addition to the fleet, and a little swimming.

On the way down river one intrepid explorer tried to navigate Spring Creek but was unfortunately thwarted by a log jam.

We returned to the launching ramp around 2pm, being approximately two hours  after high tide, with more swimming.

As usual, Keith was busy with his 4WD, launching and retrieving boats in his usual efficient way.

Thank you from us all.
